PEEK-GF 3D Printing Filament Features

PEEK-GF (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyether Ether Ketone) is a high-performance composite material with glass fiber added to the PEEK matrix. The addition of glass fiber significantly improves the mechanical properties of PEEK, with tensile strength reaching 84 MPa, Young's modulus up to 7500 MPa, and flexural modulus of 4800 MPa. While maintaining PEEK's excellent high-temperature performance (HDT 202°C) and chemical stability. PEEK-GF has higher dimensional stability and good electrical insulation properties, suitable for manufacturing high-precision, high-rigidity structural parts.
Mechanical Properties
Tensile strength 84 MPa, flexural strength 125 MPa, Young's modulus 7500 MPa, flexural modulus 4800 MPa. Glass fiber reinforcement gives PEEK-GF extremely high rigidity and strength, with elongation at break of about 7.5%, suitable for manufacturing structural parts under high loads.
Thermal Properties
Melting point 340°C, Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT B) 202°C (0.45MPa). PEEK-GF has excellent high-temperature performance, maintaining outstanding mechanical properties even in high-temperature environments.
Chemical Properties
Excellent corrosion resistance to most organic solvents, acids, and alkalis. The addition of glass fiber further improves the chemical resistance and hydrolysis resistance of the material.

PEEK-GF Filament FAQ

What printing conditions does CreatBot PEEK-GF filament require?

PEEK-GF material printing requires extremely high temperatures and specialized high-temperature equipment. Recommended nozzle temperature 400-450°C, print bed temperature 110-220°C, chamber temperature 80-220°C. Drying at 100-120°C for 6-8 hours in a forced-air drying oven is required before printing. Cooling fan should be OFF.

What advantages does PEEK-GF have over pure PEEK?

PEEK-GF significantly improves mechanical properties through glass fiber reinforcement: tensile strength increased from 75 MPa to 84 MPa, Young's modulus from 4400 MPa to 7500 MPa, flexural modulus from 2500 MPa to 4800 MPa. Meanwhile, HDT increased from 150°C to 202°C, with better dimensional stability and electrical insulation.

Why is high-temperature drying necessary for PEEK-GF material printing?

PEEK-GF material has strong hygroscopicity. Moisture will vaporize during high-temperature printing, causing bubbles inside the print and silver streaks on the surface, seriously affecting mechanical properties and appearance quality.

What types of models and applications is PEEK-GF material suitable for?

PEEK-GF is widely used in multiple high-end fields. Typical applications include: ① Aerospace - engine peripheral parts, structural brackets, heat shields; ② Medical devices - artificial bones, surgical instruments, implants; ③ Automotive manufacturing - engine parts, bearings, seals; ④ Electronics - chip carriers, connectors with excellent electrical insulation; ⑤ Precision machinery - high-rigidity structural parts.

How should PEEK-GF filament be stored properly?

PEEK-GF material has strong hygroscopicity, and proper storage is crucial for ensuring print quality. Storage methods: ① Unopened filament should be stored in a cool, dry place (temperature 15-25°C, humidity <30%); ② Opened filament is recommended to be stored in a sealed bag with desiccant; ③ If not used for more than 24 hours, remove the filament from the printer and store it sealed.

How to improve first layer adhesion when printing PEEK-GF?

First layer adhesion is key to successful PEEK-GF printing. Recommended measures: ① Heat print bed to 110-220°C; ② Use 3D printing spray, PVP glue stick, or specialized adhesive; ③ Reduce first layer print speed to 15-20mm/s; ④ Set first layer line width to 120-150% of nozzle diameter; ⑤ Use brim with 8-12mm width.
