CreatBot Ultra PA uses standard 1.75mm filament with industrial-grade ±0.03mm diameter tolerance control, compatible with the vast majority of FDM 3D printers that support PA (nylon) printing. The equipment must have a heated print bed (recommended 80-100°C) and an extrusion system capable of stably reaching 260-290°C, and an all-metal hot end is recommended. Since nylon is hygroscopic and has a large shrinkage rate, an enclosed printing chamber or protective cover is recommended. Although compatibility is broad, for optimal print quality and stability, we strongly recommend using CreatBot Ultra PA with CreatBot industrial-grade 3D printers, whose enclosed heated chamber and exclusive slicing parameters can fully leverage the performance advantages of CreatBot Ultra PA filament.
CreatBot Ultra PA is a high-performance polyamide material with optimized formulation based on ordinary PA. The differences are: ① Raw materials—uses virgin high-purity polyamide resins rather than recycled or blended materials, ensuring uniform molecular weight distribution and consistent performance; ② Process—adopts precision extrusion production lines and laser online diameter measurement systems, keeping tolerance within ±0.03mm (ordinary nylon is usually ±0.05mm), reducing extrusion unevenness caused by diameter fluctuations; ③ Modification—reduces hygroscopicity and improves interlayer bonding strength through formulation optimization, with printed parts having better toughness and less warping; ④ Quality control—each batch undergoes key indicator testing such as tensile strength, elongation at break and melt flow index before shipment. Ultra PA is suitable for gears, racks, cams, sliders, wear-resistant bushings, snap fits, automotive functional parts, industrial equipment parts and other scenarios requiring high strength, high toughness and wear resistance; if only used for ordinary appearance parts, ABS or PLA is more cost-effective.
The recommended nozzle temperature for CreatBot Ultra PA is 260-290°C, and the bed temperature is 80-100°C. Specific temperature settings should be adjusted according to model size, layer height, print speed and equipment environment. Tuning suggestions: ① For the first layer, appropriately increase nozzle temperature by 5-10°C and reduce print speed to 20-30mm/s to enhance first layer adhesion; ② For large-area models, set bed temperature to 90-100°C and apply PVA glue or dedicated nylon adhesive to the bed to enhance adhesion; ③ When using an enclosed chamber or temperature-controlled box, maintain chamber temperature at 40-60°C to significantly reduce interlayer thermal stress and warping risk; ④ An all-metal hot end must be used—PTFE hot ends degrade above 260°C and release harmful gases; ⑤ For small or fine models, appropriately lower nozzle temperature to 260-270°C to improve detail performance, while large structural parts are recommended at 275-285°C to ensure interlayer bonding strength. It is recommended to print a temperature tower first for calibration.
With its excellent mechanical strength, toughness, wear resistance and high-temperature resistance, Ultra PA is widely used in multiple industrial fields. Typical applications include: ① Gear transmission parts—spur gears, helical gears, racks, worm gears, etc., utilizing its self-lubricity and wear resistance for low-noise, long-life transmission; ② Wear parts—sliders, guides, bearing cages, bushings, cams and other friction-condition parts, with low wear rate and long service life; ③ Snap fits and moving mechanisms—snap fits, hinges, movable joints and other parts requiring repeated assembly and motion, with excellent toughness and resistance to fracture; ④ Automotive functional parts—intake manifold brackets, wire harness clips, interior functional parts, cover snaps and other non-structural parts, oil and heat resistant; ⑤ Industrial equipment parts—sprockets, guide wheels, seals, protective covers, etc., resistant to chemical corrosion and high temperature; ⑥ Tooling fixtures—customized production line fixtures, positioning pins, inspection tools, etc., withstand repeated impact and wear.
Nylon (PA) is a typical highly hygroscopic material, and Ultra PA is no exception. After absorbing moisture, it causes bubbles, stringing, rough surfaces, decreased interlayer bonding and significantly reduced mechanical properties during printing. Proper storage: ① Unopened filament should be stored in a cool, dry place (temperature 15-25°C, humidity < 20%), away from direct sunlight; ② Opened filament must be sealed in bags with sufficient desiccant (silica gel desiccant, recommended dosage 10-15g/roll), or stored in a filament dry box maintaining relative humidity below 10%; ③ When not in use for short periods (more than 1 day), it is recommended to immediately remove the filament from the printer and seal it—nylon exposed to air for 24 hours can absorb enough moisture to affect printing. If moisture is found (obvious crackling sounds during printing, white surface on filament or foamy rough extrudate), it must be dried in a hot air oven at 70-80°C for 6-8 hours (note: temperature should not exceed 85°C to avoid filament deformation and sticking), then placed in a dry environment to cool to room temperature before normal use. It is recommended to use a feeding box with drying function before printing.
Although CreatBot Ultra PA can theoretically print small parts on open-frame printers, we strongly recommend using an enclosed or semi-enclosed printing chamber for optimal results. The reasons are as follows: nylon has a large shrinkage rate (approx. 1.5-2%) and a glass transition temperature of approximately 70°C. During printing, thermal shrinkage stress from each layer accumulates layer by layer. If ambient temperature fluctuates significantly (such as open-frame printers affected by air conditioning and airflow), interlayer thermal stress can cause model edge warping, cracking or even detachment from the print bed, especially for large models. An enclosed chamber can stabilize ambient temperature at 40-60°C, significantly reducing thermal shrinkage stress and greatly improving print success rate for large models. For industrial large-format printing (such as CreatBot /D600 Pro3 HS series), equipment with a heated constant-temperature chamber is a key condition for ensuring print quality. If only an open-frame printer is available, it is recommended to reduce warping risk by installing acrylic protective covers around the printer, using PVA glue or PEI flexible steel plates to enhance adhesion, increasing brim width, and avoiding direct air conditioning airflow.
